With its time-travel story allowing two generations of mutants to appear together in the same film, next year's X-Men: Days of Future Past has inspired a tremendous amount of anticipation, chatter, and hearsay well before a frame of film has been shot.

Today, though, we have an exclusive update from no less a source than James McAvoy, who reprises his role as the younger Professor Charles Xavier in the sequel, scheduled for nationwide release on July 18, 2014.  The actor confirmed that he has read finally read the top-secret screenplay and promised that the film will provide fans with "something different, new, and unexpected."

Among the small roster of event movie directors using Twitter to pimp their next mega-movie, nobody is doing it better than Bryan Singer. 

In addition to sharing many an image from the pre-production of X-Men: Days of Future Past, Singer regularly uses his account to share new casting information on the sequel, bypassing the usual announcements or trade news.  His latest tweet combines these basic modes, backdoor-announcing several castmembers via a picture of the ensemble's headshots.

Lionsgate is still pumping out "victory portraits" showing off the many, many characters of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, set to hit theaters on November 22nd.

The latest batch we've rounded up for your edification here, dear Rogues, is concerned with the hunky men of Panem: Peeta Mellark, Gale Hawthorne, Peeta Mellark, and, of course, the ultimate teen heartthrob, President Snow.

The two biggest clotheshorses in Panem, Effie Trinket and Caesar Flickerman, are sitting still and looking almost contemplative in two new "victory portraits" promoting The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

It's not yet a done deal, but apparently Halle Berry is very nearly locked in to reprise the role of Storm in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

That's right Rogues, Oscar fever just got terminal.  The 85th Annual Academy Awards ceremony was held tonight at the Dolby Theatre in the Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles, California, with Seth MacFarlane bringing a self-referential sensibility to the hosting duties.

On a night of televised pomp and circumstance, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences – a 5,765 member-strong organization that is 94% white, 77% male, and 54% over 60 years-old – anointed the winners of the 2013 Academy Awards.

Two posters for this November's The Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire, have arrived online, playing up a faux-Panem propaganda vibe that ought to be accompanied by a bugle.

With Oscar ballots due Tuesday, and less than a week to go until the awards are handed out on Sunday, February 24th, let's take a look at how things stand in the race for the gold. This is undoubtedly the most unpredictable Oscar race in years, and there has not been this much uncertainty since Crash faced off against Brokeback Mountain back in 2006.
